Human Trafficking:

  • Shelia Simpkins McClain, who was profiled by Nicholas Kristof in his Oct 12 New York Times column, "From the Streets to the World's Best Mom." She was caught up from childhood in sex trafficking in Nashville, came through the Magdalene program started by an Episcopal priest at Vanderbilt, graduates this month with a BA in psychology, and is working to bring women out of trafficking.
  • The Rev. Mike Kinman, president of the board of Magdalen St. Louis, a new program to help women escape trafficking and prostitution, modeled on the successful Magdalen Nashville. http://magdalenestl.org/
