Journey from the year 3050 back to the present with the ambassadors of the New Miami Sound, and explore the origins of their Miami-licious swagger and unified superpowers in the Positive Vibration Nation.
Positive Vibration Nation Is a rock guaguanco opera created by Sol Ruiz. Blending live performance with integrated technology, the new work fuses sound, visual art, costume, and music with Caribbean influences to investigate contemporary issues, explore Miami’s cultural singularity, and convey a positive message to audiences.

Positive Vibration Nation is a National Performance Network (NPN) Creation & Development Fund Project co-commissioned by Miami Light Project, Beth Morrison Projects and NPN. Sol Ruiz (Composer & Librettist)
Cuban American, Grammy-nominated recording artist, producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist Sol Ruiz is a versatile artist known for her distinctive fusion of genres and innovative musical storytelling. Performing in her native tongue, Spanglish, Sol has captivated audiences worldwide with her powerful voice and magnetic stage presence. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Sol draws deep inspiration from her multicultural heritage, blending Latin rhythms with rock, afro-cuban and electronic elements to create a unique sound she calls “Epic Afro-Tronic Fusion”.
Sol has released six albums under various names, including Picadillo and Sol and The Tribu, and has toured globally. Her music often has themes of identity, resilience, and social justice, reflecting her commitment to using art as a tool for positive change. Her most recent project, “Positive Vibration Nation,” a rock ‘guaguanco’ opera, was funded by The Knight Foundation, NPN, National Endowment for the Arts, NALAC and Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with Beth Morrison Projects and Miami Light Project. The Opera premiered in April 2024 at Miami Theatre Center, performed by her band Sol and The Tribu, ambassadors of the “New Miami Sound.” Beyond her musical achievements, Sol is also an advocate for arts education and community engagement. She frequently conducts workshops and participates in outreach programs, inspiring the next generation of artists to find their voices and pursue their passions.
