An important announcement for PROTOTYPE 2022

With heavy hearts, we write to share that we must postpone our festival to January 2023. COVID has ravaged New York City and severely disrupted our ability to produce our festival in terms of artist and staff illnesses, travel complications, cartage delays and more. In line with the other major January festivals, we have decided it is best for all involved to not gather this year. This decision is not taken lightly, as our hearts and spirits have been driving toward being together and sharing the glorious work of our artists.

In the meantime, we will honor all of our financial commitments for this year’s Festival, including those impacted by the postponement, in order to ensure that all contracts for artists and creative teams, production staff, and seasonal employees are paid in full for the incredible work they have been creating. We see this as our responsibility, despite a $200,000 loss in box office revenue for us and our partner institutions.

If you hold tickets for PROTOTYPE shows, you will receive an email shortly from us or our partners about options. We appreciate your patience.

We thank you for your patronage and look forward to bringing our community together next season when, hopefully, we can gather again.
